Applying Constraints to a Prop for Solving
Applying Constraints to a Prop for Solving
- Open a new scene and Merge in the Prop through your asset browser
- Set your Frames per second
- Import the Prop C3D file through the Asset browser
- Change the color and look of the markers (under properties >
Marker settings in the asset browser window) so that the prop markers
will be more easily visible against the character markers
- Merge in the Prop_Constraints Tools.
- You should now have the Following Constraints:
- Right click on Constraints > Create Folder. Name the Folder the prop name then constraints
Example: ChefKnife_Constraints
Drag the Constraints into the folder - Switch to your hypergraph (CTRL-W)
- In your asset Browser go to Templates > Elements > and Drag in a Null (this will default it to Global Zero)
- Rename the new Null DELETE_ME
- Make DELETE_ME a Parent of the Top Null of the Prop Example: LOC_rHand
Turn off All your constraints - Using the LOC_rHand Null move the prop inside the optical data.
Note: It is very important to line up the LOC_rHand to where the Character will grab the Prop as well as fit the prop into the optical data as closely as possible. This will make solving later easier. However you can always adjust it later if you need to. - In The Rigid Body constraint make the Constrained Object the LOC_rHand Null and the Source the Prop Optical Data. Click Snap.
- Go to the Hand_Position Constraint.
Constrained object - DELETE_ME Null
Source - None yet… - Go to the Plot Back 1 Constraint.
Constrained object - Plot_Back Null
Source - LOC_rHand - Go to the Plot Back 2 Constraint.
Constrained object - LOC_rHand
Source - Plot_Back Null - Go to the Hand 2 Zero Constraint.
Constrained object - DELETE_ME
Source - Global Center Null
- In the Groups Window make sure you have nothing selected and create a group “PropName”
Example ChefKnife_4mkr - Select the Prop Geo and Click Create. Name this Group “PropName_Geo”
Example: ChefKnife_Geo - Select the Optical markers and Click Create. Name this Group “PropName_Markers”
Example: ChefKnife_Markers - Select all of the Nulls Except the LOC_rHand Null and create a group “PropName_Nulls”
Example: ChefKnife_Nulls - Select the LOC_rHand Null and create a group “PropName_Export”
Example: ChefKnife_Export - Select the Prop Optical Rootl and create a group “PropName_Root”
Example: ChefKnife_Root - In the Navigator Select all the Groups Except the PropName group and Drag them into the PropName group and select Move to Group
- Rename your Take “PropName_ROM”
Example: ChefKnife_ROM - Save the File as “PropName_ObjectName
Example: ChefKnife_Stick4mkr - Make the file Read Only.
